The eight paintings in the AUG 1 2023 • FULL MOON Collection were created start to finish on (yep, you guessed it!) the eve of the Aug 1, 2023 Full Moon as a creative and personal painting ritual.

🌕The full moon honors completion. It can be a powerful time for clearing, releasing.
As an intuitive artist, I didn’t know what I would find in these paintings at first, but I knew I must look. I don’t usually approach artwork with a forced idea of what the painting should be. I might start with a theme to explore or color palette in mind, but ultimately I follow the lead of what each painting is revealing to me and the ways it’s asking to show up in the world.
On the eve of this Full Moon, I started with darker, heavier colors —
the weight of carrying a full load,
the heaviness of heart at the grief of letting go.
I expected these works to remain dark and moody til the end,
The heaviness of our heart‘s grief when faced with letting go.
Yet, that’s not quite what I found.
The grief is there, yes…
But creating space to release did not solidify the heaviness, no, not at all.
🌕Instead I found new space—new openings for what could be. Little pockets calling for light, asking for brightness. (To which I responded in kind by filling in those spaces with pockets of bright yellow + pink.)
The Moon is always in motion, and the Full Moon reminds us letting go creates room for what’s meant for us next. To ask ourselves:
Where can I let go?
Where could I quit holding on so tightly to what’s not meant for me? So I could give myself the room to receive what is?
✨Because the universe doesn’t want you to try harder, it wants you to breathe, Let go, To create space and be open to things being easier, brighter.
